Hi! We're Mary and Trisha, the Academy Teaching Team!
Mary: I started painting yard art in the late 1980s when my two children were just babies. It was fun and fulfilling making my own designs and having something that Bruce, my husband, and I did together. While I did the painting, Bruce would cut out the shapes using a jig saw. In the early 1990s, we started selling our pieces at a store owned by Louise and Roger May in Pearland, Texas.
Trisha: I started painting about 10 years ago when my daughter was active in her school's theater program. I had to learn to make and paint set pieces and wanted to learn how to make pieces for the outside that would look great and not fall apart. That is when I met Mary and joined the Academy. I have been painting ever since. I love making yard art and can't wait to teach you everything I have learned.
Creating our designs requires hard work and diligence. The reward comes from our customers who buy and compliment our work. As you can imagine, things don’t always run smoothly. We are just like many families, with our disagreements and challenges. But together, we make one heck of a family business. Our customers always remain our first priority, and working as a team is a close second.
